Forced to add a Mobile broadband line, forming a dual-egress with Telecom broadband

Last week, the Telecom technician came to my door again, saying they suspected I had PCDN at home. The basis for suspicion was a large amount of upstream and downstream traffic for 215 consecutive hours (actually, I downloaded very little during this period, less than 1T of downloads in 215 hours, and upload was not even 300G~). I was speechless. My Transmission upload limit is already set to 1024 KB/s, what else do they want me to do?

Just looking at the recent online cases of users being speed-limited or disconnected by operators under the guise of PCDN, it feels like major operators are using PCDN as a catch-all excuse to crack down heavily on users with large upload volumes (this ”large” is relative to average home users; you know, an average home user's upload might not even exceed 1G a day~) so I also felt the danger: after all, I am an old user using a public IP package at a very low price, which makes me a thorn in Telecom's side. If they catch an opportunity to claim I violated the rules and take back my public IP, it would be a huge loss (although I don't really need a public IP right now, but not taking advantage of a good deal is just foolish).

After thinking it over, and combined with the experience of being disconnected by Telecom for 3 days last year, I already had a sense of crisis. So I simply got another Mobile gigabit broadband line, claiming 1000 Mbps downstream and 100 Mbps upstream.

Believe it or not, there really is nearly 130 Mbps upstream:

After more than a week of tinkering, I completed the traffic splitting for the intranet terminals. Terminals related to the home data center go through Telecom, while other applications (including PT downloading) go through Mobile. The Mobile egress is set as my home's default egress, while the Telecom and Mobile egresses serve as backup lines for each other. Now, except for power outages, I no longer worry about access issues for some applications due to broadband problems. Although it was a forced addition of Mobile broadband, I suddenly feel that dual broadband indeed brings a greater sense of security. At the same time, it can be considered as fulfilling my long-held wish for dual broadband~~~.

Indeed, I, with my Telecom home broadband only running PT, was also recently flagged as PCDN. The first time I went to the business hall to complete the procedures, the restriction was quickly lifted, but it was restricted again not long after. Later they told me there was no unblocking. Now I am using a project on GitHub to bypass the speed limit. The public IP is still there, but the assigned IP is from other cities in this province. I used iKuai before, but due to the lack of hardware acceleration and the free version not supporting binding multiple IPv6s at the same time, I later switched to ImmortalWrt with HNAT on mt7986, and also connected to Mobile 1000M (Southern Mobile is extremely stingy, only giving 40M uplink for gigabit broadband), using mwan3 for simple traffic splitting.

My home broadband is an old package, has a public IPv4 and can also do 3-dialing (3 public IPs), and also supports IPv6, so now I don't really want to mess around with Telecom broadband, if Telecom takes this opportunity to reclaim my public IPv4 IP, it would be a huge loss~. Since I started playing PT many years ago, when the concept of PCDN didn't exist yet, one person's upload traffic could match an entire residential area, so I was already a registered key monitored person at Telecom, to be honest, Telecom has actually been very tolerant of me. Last year, because the Communications Administration scanned the remote management port on my iKuai and bypassed Telecom to directly block my account for 3 days, Telecom later took the blame after I complained, compensating me with a month's internet fee, so actually, when Telecom has to deal with me, they are very careful, and won't act as recklessly as they do with ordinary users. However, I graduated from PT long ago, so I don't really care about upload anymore, plus with the current situation now, I still want to keep my Telecom traffic as clean as possible, mainly using it for important applications in my home data center, so I migrated PT and other traffic to the China Mobile line. But what surprised me quite a bit was, after changing the China Mobile optical modem to bridge mode and directly dialing with iKuai, although the IP obtained is a private China Mobile IP starting with 100, the NAT type is ”Endpoint-Independent NAT”, so PT can still be played a bit.

Now operators have deployed servers to check for PCDN, and every check is accurate.

If they want to investigate, they can definitely locate it accurately, but now it seems that PCDN is used more as a catch-all excuse, and the target of rectification is all users whose upstream traffic exceeds the ”normal user” standard (including live streaming). Some courier stations have even had their accounts blocked just because the daily scanned upload traffic was too large~~.

There are also many false positives with PCDN now, which is baffling.

It's not a misjudgment; there would only be a misjudgment if they actually judged it. Now it is purely a one-size-fits-all approach based on ”upload” volume. According to the China Mobile technician, 80%-90% are wrongly accused~.
