Article Abstract
Facing the needs of manga resource management, the user chose Komga to build a personal manga library to cope with challenges such as format compatibility, reading synchronization, and file organization. This solution supports epub/cbz formats, automatically identifies manga volumes through folder structures, achieves efficient management with docker deployment, and utilizes NAS mounting to handle 500GB-level storage needs. In addition to basic functions, the system supports multi-user permission control, cross-device reading progress synchronization, and multi-platform access (browser and Paperback app), ultimately building a manga management solution that meets personalized needs, and providing a demo account for users to verify the effect.

Just venting a bit. Honestly, if I weren't forced to, why would I bother messing around with all this stuff? Manga libraries, media libraries, setting up my own WoW server... Do I have nothing better to do? As a normal person, if there were no obstacles to getting these things and the cost wasn't high, I'd be better off going out cycling or traveling. But the real-world environment is just too unbearable, and I happen to hate being restricted and love breaking through these limitations. As a result, looking back, I find I have to do everything myself... But anyway, since I'm going to do it, I have to do it well, to live up to the name of "invincible"...

Then why choose Komga? First of all, my manga resources are basically in two formats: epub and cbz. The solution I need must support at least these two formats, which rules out quite a few; secondly, it must support online reading in browsers and app reading, and the reading progress must be synchronized. With these requirements, there are basically no other choices. Actually, there is another choice: Kavita, but Kavita doesn't seem to support folder organization (that is, putting the same manga in one folder, and displaying it directly as one manga based on the folder). This is a bit troublesome. I have too many mangas, and it's unlikely I'd have the time and mood to rename every single manga according to the official requirements, so I ultimately chose Komga. However, Komga did not disappoint me and basically met my requirements.

Above is my manga library, divided into 5 categories. When creating an account, you can assign access permissions to libraries for users. They can be restricted to accessing only one or several libraries, and you can also restrict them to online viewing only, or just viewing, as well as downloading, etc.:

So it basically meets the conventional requirements.

For daily access, besides using a browser on PC, you can also directly use an app. For example, I can use Paperback on Mac:

You can set single-screen or dual-screen.

You can also use Paperback on iPhone and iPad:

So if you like to collect manga resources yourself like me, using Komga is a very good choice. Of course, you have to tinker around to set it up. My usual practice is to use Docker, because I have a dedicated Docker server (a Mac mini gathering dust). And if the volume of manga is relatively large, like mine, which is over 500GB, then considering mounting an SMB directory on a NAS is another requirement...

In short, for Chinese people, life lies in tinkering.

I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't mentioned it... I just changed the blog architecture this week to an active-active mode, and changed some applications (including Komga) to active-active deployment. Currently, it feels like changing Komga to active-active has compatibility issues. I will redeploy it first, please try again in a bit.
