Making Embedding an Infrastructure: Deploying Independent Embedding Services in PVE + LXC
1 When Embedding Moves from Experiment to Basic Capability In the previous article introducing RAG, I introduced that the core tool for vectorizing segmented text is the "embedding model" (see article: Understanding RAG from Scratch (Part 1): Principles and Complete Process Analysis), and also in the subsequent...
Understanding RAG from Scratch (II): Running a Local RAG Demo on Mac mini—A Practical Guide to the Minimal Architecture
1 Preface In the previous article (see article: Home Data Center Series - Understanding RAG from Scratch (I): Principles and Complete Process Analysis), I introduced the theoretical five-step process of RAG: “Chunking → Vectorization → Vector Storage → Retrieval → Answer Generation”; subsequently...
Electric Shock is Not for “Restarting the Heart”: The Truth About Defibrillators and Pacemakers
1 Preface I believe everyone has seen a scene in movies and TV dramas that has almost become a “conditioned reflex”: on the monitor, the ECG suddenly flattens into a straight line; the atmosphere suddenly freezes, the doctor shouts, and the defibrillator comes into play; “Clear!”—after the electric shock, the ECG waveform miraculously re...
Awakening of Voice · Foundation (III): Visualization of Interval Structure and Historical Conventions
1 Starting from the Black and White Keys: The Smallest Structural Unit of the Music System In the previous article (see: Awakening of Voice · Foundation (I): Pitch Structure and Auditory Stability), I mentioned an important fact: the fifth relationship describes the auditory closeness between pitches. For example, C and ...
When Whitelisting Becomes the Norm: Trends and Sustainability Analysis of Personal Cross-Border Access
1 When Stability Begins to Require Maintenance The direct reason for writing this article is that a cross-border transit service provider I have long relied on (which I have always considered to be the most professional technically) finally collapsed recently, causing the access architecture that had been running stably for years to instantly fail. This change forced me to re...
Telegram New Device Login Prompts SMS fee? A Passkey Login Practice Independent of SMS Verification Codes
1 The Huge Pit Encountered When Logging into Telegram on a New iPad Recently, considering that I no longer have the need for mobile office, I sold my idle M1 MacBook Pro and iPad mini 6 at home on Zhuanzhuan: then added some money to exchange for a cellular version with national subsidies ...
Understanding iptables: What You Really Need to Master is Not Rules, But the Flow of Packets
1 Preface Actually, I have wanted to write an article about iptables for a long time, because although I don't use it usually, every time I really need to use it, I always find that the relevant knowledge points have been completely forgotten, and I have to read it from the beginning again. This is the result of learning a certain knowledge point without reinforcing memory through writing...
Most People Ignore the Variables in Life

Life is actually more like an extremely complex and constantly changing equation, full of variables: era, environment, family, opportunities, health, cognition, personality, choices, and even luck. And these variables are not simply superimposed, but influence and restrict each other.

But many people always like to understand life as a linear “input-output” relationship, as if as long as they invest something, they will definitely get the corresponding result.

For example, some people think: “As long as you work hard enough, you will definitely succeed.” But they often ignore that success never exists independently of the environment. The same effort, in different eras, different platforms, and different resource conditions, may lead to vastly different final results: some people rise with the wind, while others exhaust their lives in the headwind. Effort is of course important, but it is only one of the variables, not a universal formula that decides everything.

For another example, some people feel: “Make money desperately when you are young, and you can be happy when you are old.” But the problem is, no one can determine in advance that they will definitely reach that “old age” smoothly. Even many times, it is precisely the long-term overdrawing of the body, sacrificing health, and squeezing the spirit when young that ultimately causes the body to collapse first. As a result, before people have time to enjoy the future, they have already lost the ability to move towards the future in advance.

Many times, reality is not a stably running assembly line; it is more like a dynamic system—variables change at any time, conditions can be reset at any time, and formulas that held true in the past may not necessarily hold true in the future. Many seemingly natural life logics are essentially just phased experiences under a certain specific environment, rather than universally applicable truths.

Therefore, what people really need is perhaps not to cling to a certain fixed life formula, but to always retain awe for “variables.” Knowing that life cannot be absolutely controlled, and understanding that many things are not guaranteed to be obtained just because you “worked hard,” or realized just because you “planned well.”

This cognition is not pessimistic; on the contrary, it means that a person begins to truly understand the complexity of reality, and therefore knows better how to balance, exercise moderation, and cherish the present.

And this is what it truly means to understand the four words ‘life is impermanent."
